About World Food Day

Every year the UN Food and Agriculture organization hosts World Food Day, to bring awareness to global food issues.

This year, the theme is Sustainable Food Systems for Food Security and Nutrition. What would a sustainable food system look like? Is it possible to get from here to there? What would need to change to move us in that direction? World Food Day 2013 is an opportunity to explore these and other questions, and help bring about the future we want.

The Cookbook Project’s Campaign

In conjunction with World Food Day, The Cookbook Project is hosting a Campaign to raise awareness and to help build support for CBP’s unique approach to supporting sustainable food systems. The Cookbook Project is currently training a global network of Local Leaders to use food culture and cooking to teach youth about the connection between health, community, and sustainability. A vital step to achieving Sustainable Food Systems is to educate leaders in their own communities who can then educate the most at-risk, especially youth.

How to get involved:

Businesses – Become a supporter, and donate a portion of the proceeds of your profit from the day to The Cookbook Project’s Local Leaders Program. Contact us!

Organizations – Organize community events related to World Food Day and create awareness about Sustainable Food Systems through Social Media. Contact us for a complimentary World Food Day Campaign Kit

School and Education Groups - Enter the World Food Day Poster Contest!

Families and Individuals – Host a World Food Day Dinner or potluck, and prepare local, sustainable menu options to share with family and friends. Post your recipes and photos on our World Food Day Campaign Facebook Page (coming soon!).
